Tourist attractions unfurled in Nilgiris district

District Collector appeals to the tourists to avoid bringing plastic bottles and carry-bags in the area as they are banned.

Shut for the past eight months due to the COVID-19 pandemic; the administration reopened the tourist attractions for public in Nilgiris district recently. District Collector J. Innocent Divya opened the way for the Doddabetta peak.

According to her, only Mudumalai Tiger Reserve’s (MTR) reopening has not been approved by the government so far. Also, to deal with the increased footfall, water facilities have been installed in 63 places by the administration.

Divya appealed to the tourists to avoid bringing plastic bottles and carry-bags in the area as they are banned. She further said that the administration would take initiatives to eliminate the encroachments in the Boat House area. Previously, the first week of September witnessed the reopening of the Government Botanical Gardens, Rose Garden, Tea Park, and Sim’s Park in Coonoor.
