Tourism and hospitality industry requests Centre to release SEIS aid

The tourism & hospitality sectors have been among the worst hit and have been struggling for survival. The SEIS aid may help in giving some respite to the ailing industry.

The hospitality and tourism industry requests the centre to release SEIS (Service Exports from India Scheme) aid to help revive the severely hit sector.

Commenting on the request, Vineet Verma, Executive Director and CEO, Brigade Hospitality said, “The tourism & hospitality sectors have been among the worst hit and have been struggling for survival. We were just about beginning to see some green shoots when the second wave has struck and this time more severely. It is time for us to rally together and it is also time for our industry to be extended the much awaited support from the Authorities. Every bit helps and an early release of the SEIS benefit will be a step in the right direction.”

Introduced in Foreign Trade Policy in 2015-20 to incentivise services export, under SEIS few services can avail 3 to 7 per cent incentive on net foreign exchange gained as duty credit scrips.
