Thomas Cook India's MICE team organises event for WHO's Global Centre on Traditional Medicine

The event was held in Gujarat's Jamnagar and was viewed live by an audience of more than 2,000 people

The MICE team of travel services company Thomas Cook (India) Limited managed the end-to-end delivery of the ceremony and event for the world's first World Health Organisation (WHO) Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Thomas Cook India was appointed as the exclusive Event Management Agency after a meticulous selection process.

The WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine is a global project that will focus on data, innovation and sustainability while optimising the use of traditional medicine in the field of healthcare and wellness.

The landmark event, organised by Thomas Cook India for the WHO and Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, was graced by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi along with the Director-General of WHO, Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus who performed the ground breaking ceremony. The special guest for the occasion was Prime Minister of the Republic of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth. The moment was witnessed live by an audience of more than 2,000, World Ambassadors to India, senior members of the government, international delegations from WHO and the Republic of Mauritius, top bureaucrats and dignitaries.

Thomas Cook India’s three-pronged strategy focussed on innovation, technology and service to deliver the event. The 360-degree transformation of the venue included converting barren land into imposing marquees the size/scale of massive hangar-like structures. The company also managed the promotion and publicity of the event via a media campaign across print, digital platforms and social media.

In addition to the event, Thomas Cook was also responsible for managing public relations and media outreach for the Government’s Global Ayush Investment & Innovation Summit in Gandhinagar.
