One8 Commune, the chic resto-bar, opened its doors to the City of Joy!

The iconic One8 Commune, a resto bar owned by Virat Kohli, opens its doors in the city of Kolkata. Located in the heart of the city at Golden Park, Kolkata, the place upholds a thoughtful blend of the old-world charm with the contemporary. The décor complements the guise of togetherness, while incorporating the ambience of the city’s nostalgic heritage. After its inaugural outlet in Delhi Aerocity, One8 Commune is now ready to steal the show of the resto-bar community of Kolkata. 

Designed by renowned interior stylist Sumessh Menon, the signature resto-bar spreads over an area of 4,500 sq ft plus and has a seating capacity of 100 covers that includes capsule style pods and a distinct raised VIP seating space, with a backdrop of an LED lit signature of Virat Kohli. The colour palette includes shades of rust, olive green and blue in varying tones and textures to add drama to the whole space. The amalgamation of all elements also reflects the brand’s belief in harmony and compassion to create a space that is synonymous with comfort, based on a singular aura of togetherness and uniqueness.

Virat Kohli said, My connection with Kolkata has always been very joyous and remains integral to me from my under-19 days till today. Calcuttans know how to do justice to the food and Kolkata’s food culture has always been fascinating to me hence we thought One8 Commune could be a fantastic addition to the city's gastronomic preferences with a bit of our distinctive twists. The unique blend of Kolkata’s colonial characteristics, architecture and history combined with its modern discoveries and contemporary vibes creates a quality contrast and that is what we aspire to bring to the table. The idea is to epitomise Kolkata through the Commune's food and spirit.”

The finely curated menu by well-renowned Chef Pawan Bisht is a diverse and vibrant multi-cuisine menu that caters to a global palate; right from staple Pizza-Burger re-inventions, to heavy-duty community platters, the menu balances it all with élan. From Midnight Rock Jammers to Sunday Brunch brigades, Low-key Vibe Chillers to Shot-downing party freaks, from the Misunderstood Artists to Corporate Go-Getters, One8 taps into a unique thread that binds them all — A love for good people, scrumptious food and a glorious time.

The menu also takes cues from Virat Kohli’s personal journeys and food experiences, creating a holistic culinary space for all types of foodies — Be it the health junkies, meat lovers or vegetarians. Some of the signature dishes include Red and white quinoa salad, ‘Ghugni chaat cornetto, Chicken Keema Cornetto', Keema puff, Black Chicken', in starters; Napoletana con burrata pizza, Herb crusted fish steak, Spicy Malvani curry, Mumbai Dabbagosht, The One8 mezze, Communing Indian way!!, Lahori commune in the main course amongst several other delicious offerings. The signature desserts are Five river mud cake and Skillet apple pie. Not to miss out on a section on Kohli's favourite, which includes specials like Superfood Salad and Mushroom Googly to name a few. 

The beverage menu boasts of concocted signature cocktails that evoke generational moods, ranging from the classic 50s, Retro 70s to the current millennial generation. Some of the favourites are, “Loverture tiki”, “ Commune no.7”, “Yellowtail”, “Barrel meister”, “POP!” and “Sage Thumb” .Under the expertise of Neeraj Sharma, Head Mixologist, One 8’s bar menus have evolved, with a constant endeavour to create more innovative cocktails.

The unabashedly quirky and experimental resto-bar also hosts an in-house DJ playing the intriguing beats of Commercial Pop and Hip-Hop to keep one hooked to the dance floor.
