Hyatt Regency Delhi gets LEED Platinum Rating
As a LEED Platinum five Star Hotel, Hyatt Regency Delhi is now recognised on the basis of excellence in sustainable Design, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Material & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Innovation in Operations.

HYATT REGENCY Delhi, has been certified as LEED Platinum by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), the body that certifies all LEED projects globally. With this honour, Hyatt Regency Delhi is the first Hyatt hotel in over 700 properties across the world to receive this green building certification.
During the special ceremony at Hyatt Regency Delhi, the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certificate were presented to Shiv Jatia, Chairman and Managing Director of Asian Hotels (North) Limited by P. Gopalakrishnan , Managing Director , Asia Pacific & Middle East, GBCI.
Speaking on the occasion, Aseem Kapoor, General Manager Hyatt Regency Delhi said, “It is of course a proud moment for all of us, especially as we are the first hotel to receive this certification within the Hyatt family. The whole process started a year back and with the help of Suman Majumdaar and his team we were able to achieve this.”

Payal Rastogi, Founder and Managing Director, Carbon Fixers is the consultant for Hyatt Regency Delhi. “Technically, it took us one and a half years to work on the certification, which we received in the first week of July. Hotel has achieved a lot in terms of water management, with efficient system and operations in place,” said Rastogi.
Working on this project Hyatt Regency Delhi has spent Rs 2.7 crores in the last three years with Rs 3 crores of its operational saving according to Rastogi.
“Market transformation happens one building at a time. Hyatt understands the value of LEED and has exemplified extraordinary leadership in reshaping their sector,” said Mahesh Ramanujam, president and CEO, U.S. Green Building Council, the creators of LEED, and GBCI.
Gopalakrishnan spoke on the occasion, “The important thing about Hyatt Regency Delhi is not about the platinum certification but about the existing hotel receiving the platinum certification. Ideally, when you are constructing a building, keeping the LEED parameters in mind one can hold the platinum certification, but a 35 year old property in midst of Delhi getting the certification is a huge task.”
The property is committed to reduce light pollution. Hyatt Regency Delhi is also the only building in Delhi NCR to receive green power transmission. Now more than 75 per cent of the electricity comes from Green Hydro Power among the many innovations under the LEED project timelines.
