How the Cookie Crumbles

Started in 2013, Sweetish House Mafia is the brain child by Neha Sethi and her business brain brother-in-law Aakash. This cookie chain has since taken over the city with 7 outlets creating over 1000 cookies daily. But it all started with a car.

NOW MUMBAI has its fair share of unique dining options, from chaat carts to charleys, thalis to tiffins, dhabbas to delis, food trucks to fine dining....but a travelling patisserie in a Nano? Now that's new! So I thought I'd visit this carriage of cookies for their recently introduced Signature Experience, which takes you into a delicious journey of discovery.

Started in 2013, Sweetish House Mafia is the brain child by Neha Sethi and her business brain brother-in-law Aakash. This cookie chain has since taken over the city with 7 outlets creating over 1000 cookies daily. But it all started with a car.

Wanting to test the market in April 2013, Neha sent out her wedding gift (the humble Nano) to busy business district filled with cookies & cupcakes. Minutes later the car returned without even a crumb. This continued despite rain or storm as the mafia soon become the most wanted vehicle in town. Wharton Graduate, Neha knew she had cracked the recipe for a successful business venture.

Today the Signature Tasting Experience (requires advance booking) takes you thru the tasty tales of this cookie revolution followed by a tasting of the top cookies that turned the metrosexuals of Mumbai into cookie monsters.

Visiting their newest outlet on the cross section of Breach Candy and Nepean Sea road a few days before it opened, we had no idea of the treat we had in store. Welcomed by Neha herself, we started with the Oatmeal Cranberry cookie, an almost guilt free indulgence and the perfect pick me up to get over the Monday morning blues.  Followed by the Classic Chocolate Chip with a glass of milk, dunked and devoured. The Snickerdoodle with its hints of cinnamon was paired with an Apple Cinnamon tea, a winning combination. We proceeded then to the all-time favourite Nutella Sea Salt. Now this cookie is a bestseller for a reason. Unable to best describe it, this decadent dough ball takes you on a sea & sand trip to the Maldives. Sinfully good. By the time we reached the Double Chocolate Chip Cookie, we were in love. "There is no such thing as too much chocolate ", Neha reminded us, but with a our internal cookie jar filled to the brim, we promised to return another day to try out the items of the menu we missed.

Keeping our promise, we returned, a week later once the new outlet had opened. Not surprisingly a line of customers filled the pavement. And we just couldn't get in!
