CII Signs a MoU with Lausanne Hospitality Consulting

As per the MoU, CII and LHC would work on establishing a world-class Indian Culinary Institute.

CII HAS signed a strategic Skill MoU with Lausanne Hospitality Consulting. LHC is the Swiss knowledge development and management advisory company of Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) and the Swiss Hotel Association. LHC has considerable expertise, global repute and experience in the fields of strategic management advisory, development of hospitality learning centres, people search & management support, certification of learning centres-products-individuals and executive education.

As per the MoU, CII and LHC would work on establishing a world-class Indian Culinary Institute. The Lausanne Hotel & Restaurant Training Center is also proposed to be established in India. The MoU spans various other initiatives including publishing of joint research papers, creating a dual training/education certification model, and delivery of specialised training programs/master classes, amongst other joint ventures.

The collaborative arrangement will help bring in the international expertise of the Swiss partners with a promise to maximise the reach by capitalising CII’s industry connect.

Speaking on the occasion, Sougata Roy Choudhary, Head, Skill Development, CII said, “India’s burgeoning population presents a huge opportunity, which is coupled with international training standards can help the creation of a truly globalised workforce. The MoU is a critical step in this regard catering to the Tourism and Hospitality segment, which is one of the leading service sectors with a huge demand for trained manpower. Taking the delivery beyond hospitality, the joint venture will focus on bringing Critical Thinking, Emotional Intelligence and improving Human touch to the services of manufacturing and services sectors alike through corporate training.”

Also speaking on the occasion, Mr Yateendra Sinh, Global CEO, LHC, said, “We are pleased to partner with CII in India to introduce professional lifespan training and executive education solutions that address not only the human skills gap in the hospitality, manufacturing and services sectors but also generate a positive mindset shift. The aim of this partnership is to develop the manpower with market-derived, hands-on skills and a strategic service mindset that above all emphasizes continuous learning for both the individuals and the organisations.”

Confederation of Indian Industry has been playing a pivotal role in driving the Skill India Mission by supporting the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and identifying potential partners to give further impetus to the Skills Ecosystem. Apart from skilling greater numbers, there has been a conscious attempt to ensure a qualitative input aimed at not just catering to domestic demand but also trained to serve the global markets.
