Where hospitality meets heart

It’s not just about luxury; it’s about crafting a modern and comfortable experience that stands out, says Shibani Malhotra, General Manager, Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark

At Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark, it’s all about turning your stay into an unforgettable experience. It’s not just about a roof over your head; it’s about embracing the basics of what travellers today truly crave – simplicity, convenience, comfort and a dash of warmth. “So, picture this: You walk in, and we welcome you with a genuine Namaskaram, the traditional Kochi way. It’s not just a greeting; it’s an invitation to feel at home from the get-go. We’re not here to be just another stop on your journey; we’re here to be the reason you want to come back,” says the property’s effervescent General Manager Shibani Malhotra.

Talking about food, Malhotra shares, “Our restaurants aren’t just places to eat; they’re journeys into culinary traditions. We’re not just serving food; we’re serving up an experience, a taste of the cultural tapestry that goes beyond the region. We want to make your stay more than just a checkmark on your travel list. We want to make it an experience that lingers in your memory, beckoning you back for more. That’s how we do it at Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark – where hospitality meets heart.”

It’s different

“For business travellers, our commitment is evident in providing well-appointed spacious rooms, state-of-the-art conference facilities, a fully equipped business centre and a modern fitness centre. The hotel’s strategic location within the Infopark campus not only facilitates convenient business operations but also provides a picturesque Nature experience amid the urban landscape,” informs the GM.

Beyond catering to business needs, the hotel offers curated tour packages for cultural exploration. Guests can immerse themselves in the serene beauty of Kerala Backwaters, witness the unique Chinese Fishing Nets and explore historical sites like Paradesi Synagogue, Jew Town, Indo-Portuguese Museum, Mattancherry Palace, and the vibrant spice market. Additionally, they can discover the rich history at St Francis Church, Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica and Dutch Cemetery, conveniently accessible within 30 to 40 minutes of travel time.

“We’re all about meeting the varied needs of our guests, whether they’re here for business or leisure. Our close proximity to the World Trade Center and Infopark not only offers convenience for corporate travellers but reduces significant travel time. The hotel serves as a prime stopover destination, seamlessly connected to the airport, thus bypassing high-traffic zones. Connectivity is poised to enhance further with the upcoming metro rail project that will link Kakkanad to City centre, adding an extra layer of convenience,” says Malhotra.

Shifting gears from work to play, the property’s specially crafted packages invite guests to dive into the local markets and soak up the rich history of Kochi. “Whether you’re here for a business rendezvous or a leisurely escape, we promise more than just a stay – we’re talking about an experience tailored just for you!” she avers, adding, “It’s not just a stay, it’s an experience.”

Staying ahead of trends

“We’re all about keeping up with the dynamic trends in the hospitality game. It’s not just about luxury; it’s about crafting a modern and comfortable experience that stands out. So, here’s the scoop: Our commitment to comfort and convenience is’t just a tagline; it’s woven into everything we do. Take our three unique dining spots – All Spice, The Eatery, and Caper Bar – they’re not just places to eat; they’re experiences. We’re setting trends with thematic dining, making every meal an occasion to remember,” informs the General Manager.

On tech front, Malhotra says, it is all about embracing innovation. “The Marriott Bonvoy app is the star of the show, making check-ins a breeze and letting our guests earn and redeem points for stays at Bonvoy brands which includes over 8,500 hotels and resorts. It’s the tech-savvy way to stay. Our focus is simplicity and personalised experiences. We’re not just staying ahead; we’re setting the pace. That’s how we operate!” says Malhotra.

Sustainability initiatives

Some of the actionable initiatives at the property include reducing food waste through the Marriott Environmental Sustainability Hub. “Plastic waste is reduced with the shift to bath amenity dispensers. ‘Linen & Terry Re-Use Programme’, especially with our long-stay guests. Aerators and the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) water are our allies, ensuring efficient cooling tower operation, WC flushing and horticulture needs. Ethical sourcing matters to us – think “Cage-Free Eggs” and a 30 per cent plant-based menu. Our 10kW solar panel not only contributes to sustainability but also results in monthly HLP cost savings,” she shares.

Looking ahead, the property is gearing up for even more eco-friendly initiatives, including a bottling plant and EV station. “These additions will reinforce our commitment to environmental responsibility, ensuring a sustainable and eco-conscious experience for our guests. It’s all part of our dedication to responsible hospitality practices,” avers the GM.

Leadership principles

“Leading a hotel is like orchestrating a symphony – every note, every connection contributes to the masterpiece of hospitality, a sentiment that deeply resonates with me as the General Manager. My leadership mantra revolves around cultivating a positive and thriving atmosphere, acknowledging that genuine connections drive the success of both our guests and associates,” says Malhotra, adding, “I’m not just about talking the talk; I’m walking it too. Injecting energy into the team, I embrace a mindset of continuous learning, viewing our hotel not just as a physical space but as a hub for creating unforgettable experiences. In the spirit of servant leadership, my aim is to uplift lives, fostering personal and community growth. Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a commitment for enduring success.”

Future plans

Looking forward, Four Points by Sheraton Kochi Infopark, says Malhotra, is embarking on a journey of enhancements and enriched experiences. “Our focus involves strategic investments in infrastructure upgrades, ensuring our facilities maintain a contemporary and comfortable standard. We are actively engaged in reducing our environmental impact and this includes the implementation of energy efficient upgrades and waste reduction strategies. On the hospitality front, we are exploring collaborations with local businesses and artisans to offer unique, authentic experiences. This not only contributes to the support of the local community but also adds a distinctive and memorable touch to our guests’ stays. Our commitment extends to the continuous training and development of our team, ensuring they remain abreast of industry trends and consistently provide exceptional service. In essence, our future plans revolve around practical improvements, sustainability initiatives, and an unwavering commitment to delivering memorable experiences that surpass expectations,” she concludes.
