Westin Chennai Velachery, 12 hotel management institutions join hands

As part of the MoU, Westin Chennai Velachery will extend opportunities to deserving students pursuing undergraduate programs at these colleges based on a rigorous selection methodology

Westin Chennai Velachery is pleased to announce the signing of an MoU with leading Hotel Management Institutions/Colleges including SRM Institute of Hotel Management- Kattankulathur, SRM Institute of Hotel Management- Ekkaduthangal, Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition-Chennai, Shangrila Institute of Hotel Management and Aviation-Vijayawada, Oriental School of Hotel Management – Kerala, Haneefa Cafetering College- Kanyakumari, Vels Institute of Science, Technology & Advanced Studies (VISTAS) – Chennai, MGR Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology- Chennai, Chennais Amirta International Institute of Hotel Management- Vijayawada, Banglore & Chennai and State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology – Tiruchirappalli to provide students pursuing diplomas and degrees in Hospitality Management with upskilling courses and training facilities. The initiative aims to enhance the learning experience of students and create a highly employable graduate. 

Speaking on the partnership, the General Manager of Westin Chennai Velachery, Lakshmanan Ramanathan said, "We are delighted to collaborate with these esteemed colleges and provide students with the opportunity to learn and grow in the hospitality industry. Through this partnership, we aim to create a talent pool that will meet the industry's needs, and we look forward to welcoming these students to our Marriott Hotels."

As part of the MoU, Westin Chennai Velachery will extend opportunities to deserving students pursuing undergraduate programs at these colleges based on a rigorous selection methodology. They have collaborated with each of these Colleges with a mutual understanding to support the growth of students through Internships, On The Job Training, ODC, Placements, and even Faculty development through guest lectures/faculty visits, etc.

Additionally, the hotel will extend the first preference in recruitment to qualified students of these colleges at the entry-level position or any applicable existing opportunity in Marriott Hotels in India only.

The MoU will commence on 17th March 2023 and continue for a period of two years, to begin with. The partnership is expected to benefit students pursuing Hospitality Management degrees and diplomas in these Colleges by providing them with an opportunity to learn and grow in the hospitality industry. It will also help to create a talent pool that will meet the industry's needs.

The collaboration between Westin Chennai Velachery and all 12 Hotel Management Institutions/Colleges is a welcome step towards creating a highly employable graduate with the right set of skills and expertise needed in the hospitality industry.
