We welcome and appreciate the much awaited decision by the Government of Karnataka to accord 'industry' status to all classified hotels in the State: Vineet Verma

The Karnataka State government recently granted ‘industry’ status to the classified hotels and resorts in the state. Welcoming the favourable step, Vineet Verma stated that he will be looking forward to more support from both the State and the Centre to revive the industry.

The Karnataka State government recently accorded ‘industry’ status to the classified hotels and resorts in the state.  The step has brought some respite to the tourism sector which was suffering as a consequence of the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commenting on the recent announcement, Vineet Verma, MRICS, Executive Director & CEO, Brigade Hospitality stated, “We welcome and appreciate the much awaited decision by the Government of Karnataka to accord Industry status to all classified hotels in the State. This is the second State after Maharashtra to have done so."

"The hotel Industry has been literally crippled during the ongoing crisis. At this time, relief in the form of reduced Industrial tariff on power charges and relief in Property taxes will help lessen the financial burden on hotels. We do look forward to more such support from both the State and the Centre in helping revive our industry,” he added.

The benefits will be applicable to classified hotels from April 1.
