UNWTO appoints Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency as affiliate member in its Board of Directors

Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency expected to have a decisive role in the organisation’s goals towards the development of sustainable and resilient tourism

Türkiye Tourism Promotion and Development Agency (TGA) has joined the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) Board of Directors as an affiliate member for 2022-2025. TGA is expected to have a decisive role in the World Tourism Organisation’s goals towards the development of sustainable and resilient tourism.

In his commissioning letter, Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili noted that the TGA is a strong and important partner and will contribute significantly to UNWTO issues such as tourism management and the promotion of destinations in the post-Covid-19 period. Pololikashvili said he expects TGA’s knowledge and experience will add value to the work of the Board of Directors of Affiliate Members.

Dr Elif Balcı Fisunoğlu, Deputy General Manager responsible for Tourism Operations and Development, will represent the TGA on the Board during the period. Dr Fisunoğlu has over 25 years of experience in the travel and tourism industry and has served at TGA since January 2020.
