The Ashok New Delhi celebrates cake mixing ceremony

The event was celebrated with special guests from the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation

As we enter the season of savouring plum cakes, gingerbread, turkey, roasted potatoes and much more, The Ashok, New Delhi has ushered the spirit of the festive season by hosting a cake mixing event with special guests from the Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation.

With the hint of cinnamon in the air and hands clad in gloves, the tiny tots accompanied the chef's shoulder to shoulder as they generously added a rich mix of dry fruits like nuts, raisins, apples, apricots, dried ginger along with glazed red cherries, orange peel, tutti frutti, black currants, spices and liquors. Both children and chefs worked for hand in hand and the mixture was then transferred to jars and has now been left to mature. The mixture will be blended with the cake batter and baked to turn into scrumptious Christmas cakes.

“The pandemic has been a dampener to festivities and celebrations. The times have been stressful for young and old alike. The strong vaccination drive and declining COVID-19 numbers have given people enough confidence to cautiously open up the economy. Also, while festivals like Christmas bring much-needed cheer and celebrations, Christmas rituals like cake mixing give everyone much hope and optimism for a new beginning and joyous times ahead,” said Chef Arvind Rai, Executive Chef, The Ashok.
