RailRestro expands services to 100 more railway stations

With this, the foodtech startup will cater to 450 stations across India

Foodtech startup RailRestro has expanded its facilities and services to over 100 new locations in the country, driven by rising demand. The company will now cater to 450 railway stations and will provide healthy, regional cuisines to railway passengers through online food delivery.

Manish Chandra, Founder and Director of RailRestro, said, "The organisation will be expanding its services. Earlier our facilities were available to passengers at only approximately 350 railway stations in India. But now, with IRCTC's authorisation, the food delivery service partner will expand its facilities to over 450 railway stations."

The company has expanded services in locations including Bangalore Cantt, Pune Jn, Manmad Jn, Bhusawal Jn, Secunderabad Jn, Vadodara, Surat Jn, New Jalpaiguri Jn, Ratlam Jn and Nashik Road Jn.

Chandra also announced that apart from the addition of new locations, this year RailRestro will also serve one-of-its-kind regional delicacies to passengers, which would include North Indian, South Indian, Jain, Rajasthani, Chinese, Continental and diet-specific among others. They will also start special breakfast facilities.

For example, the railway stations of Rajasthan will serve famous regional food of the state, which includes Dal Bati Churma, Onion Kachori, Bajra Roti with Garlic Chutney and Ghevar. In Madhya Pradesh, passengers will get dishes like Poha and Jalebi, Bhutte ki Kheer, and Dal Bafla for breakfast.

Similarly, at stations in Maharashtra, travellers would be able to enjoy authentic Marathi dishes like Vada Pav, Misal Pav, Batata Vada, etc. Additionally, passengers will also get facilities for Jain food and pure vegetarian food as well.  All these cuisines will be prepared and provided by top restaurants in the country in order to provide authentic and hygienic tasting food to all travellers.

This decision to serve region-specific food is aimed at promoting all types of regional cuisines through railway stations. Chandra believes that this move will allow regional food to be recognised at a world level and add to the promotion of our country's culture.

He further stated that passengers would additionally get services for milk and tea at various railway stations. This comes as a big step forward as many passengers face trouble in getting milk and tea, specifically safe and hygienic options for children.
