Indian Restaurant Summit 2023 Takes Center Stage in Kolkata on September 21st and 22nd, bringing together over 60 senior speakers, representing more than 1000 restaurants

As India stands at the crossroads of a culinary renaissance, the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) is all set to host the monumental NRAI Indian Restaurant Summit 2023 on September 21st and 22nd in the vibrant city of Kolkata. Over the course of two days, this seminal event will bring together over 60 senior speakers, representing more than 1000 restaurants from every corner of the nation, to chart an inspiring course forward.
Speaking about the event, Kabir Suri, President and Founder of Azure Hospitality, emphasised, "Crucially, the NRAI summit aims to galvanise government support for streamlining the restaurant business landscape, recognising its potential as an integral pillar of the nation's economic progress. Unifying windows for licences and GST input from the government are key agenda drivers for this summit.
The first day of the conclave is going to provide a platform for various thought-provoking panel discussions on several pressing topics. Industry luminaries will delve into the nuances of creating brands that resonate with both urban and rural consumers in a spirited debate between two groups of distinguished leaders, with the central subject being the convergence of gastronomy and spectacle in the Instagram era, challenging conventional paradigms.
The day concludes with discussions on the crucial role of data in running a restaurant operation, the transformation of Indian restaurants over time, and another high-spirited debate on the "Make in India vs. Made in India" conundrum, which is expected to shape the future of culinary entrepreneurship in the nation. Coupled with knowledge sessions and multiple workshops, the summit aims to "enlighten and inspire" the fraternity as they prepare to navigate the new convergent world.
Day two of the summit marks NRAI's annual general meeting, designed to uncover deeper insights into the future of the restaurant business in India. Conversations and workshop sessions will provide practical guidance on funding, culinary innovation, compliance, technology, and franchising, highlighting the summit's mission to elevate the restaurant industry as a catalyst for economic growth. The day will kick off with a keynote address from industry veteran and stalwart, India’s pioneer chef, Sanjeev Kapoor.
Sagar J. Daryani, Vice President of NRAI and Founder of Wow! Momo, stated, "NRAI's single-minded agenda has been to be inclusive and add value to more and more members across the country. In the past two years, we have nurtured close to 21 key chapters in the country. The last summit was in Hyderabad, and this one is in Kolkata. Going forward, we plan to host events of large magnitude in Chennai, Bengaluru, or Bhopal, among other places."
