Kandima Maldives celebrates International Women’s Dive Day

Hosts record-holding female free diver May Leethanachai for a two-day workshop

International Women’s Dive Day, which is on July 16 this year, has grown into the most celebrated day of diving dedicated to women divers around the world. Kandima Maldives is aiming to encourage more and more women to dive and explore underwater experiences. This International Women’s Dive Day, Kandima is hosting the record-holding female free diver May Leethanachai for a two-day workshop and dive sessions for the guests at the resort’s state-of-the-art water sports and dive centre Aquaholics.

Leethanachai’s journey is inspiring, and she has proved to be a leader paving the way for other women divers from across the world. She is not only a certified PADI instructor and a member of FMCG for the past 11 years, but also a freediving record holder. Having been awarded by the AIDA Apnea Association of Singapore Depth Competition Bali 2019 and the AIDA Sabang International Freediving competition in 2019, Leethanachai is a trendsetter in the women’s freediving category. She is currently ranked second for the deepest women divers in Thailand. One of her challenges which she turned into a feat, is the ability to dive 52m deep in open water and 115m in confined waters.

During her visit at Kandima Maldives, Leethanachai is set to share her journey, conduct confined water sessions for curious dive newbies with an exclusive women’s only session and hold an open water and freediving session for more advanced divers.
