Jet Airways appoints Sanjiv Kapoor as CEO

Kapoor has worked with full service carrier Vistara and budget airline SpiceJet in the past

The new promoters of Jet Airways, Jalan Kalrock Consortium has appointed Sanjiv Kapoor as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the airline. He will join Jet Airways on April 4, the airline said. Currently the president of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, Kapoor has worked with Indian full service carrier Vistara and budget airline SpiceJet in the past.

Kapoor has over 25 years of experience in the industry. He was appointed the Chief Operating Officer of SpiceJet in 2013 and has worked with Northwest Airlines, Bain and Company, Temasek Holdings (Singapore) and The Boston Consulting Group) in the past.

It was on April 17, 2019 that Jet Airways was grounded after it ran out of cash. NCLT, in June 2021, approved the resolution plan submitted by the Jalan-Kalrock consortium, comprising UAE-based entrepreneur Murari Lal Jalan and UK-based Kalrock Capital as the consortium proposed to pay ₹1,183 crore to creditors over five years from the proceeds of the sale of assets and cash flow. The consortium had appointed former Sri Lankan Airlines chief executive Vipula Gunatilleka as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Jet Airways (India) Limited recently
