Prithvi Raj Singh “Biki” Oberoi, the esteemed Chairman Emeritus of the Oberoi Group and an icon in the Indian hospitality industry, peacefully departed on the morning of November 14, leaving behind an enduring legacy of unparalleled service.

Renowned as the visionary who revolutionized the Indian hotel industry, Oberoi served as the former executive chairman of EIH Limited, the flagship company of The Oberoi Group. His indomitable influence on luxury hospitality included spearheading the development of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, a brand synonymous with opulence.

Recognised for propelling Oberoi hotels to global luxury prominence, PRS Oberoi ushered in an era of distinguished luxury with the establishment of several upscale hotels in key cities. His contributions garnered international acclaim when he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, in January 2008.

Among the many accolades received during his lifetime, PRS Oberoi was honored by BW HOTELIER in 2019 with the BW Hotelier Hall of Fame recognition.

In a forward-looking move, PRS Oberoi gracefully stepped down from his position as chairman and director of EIH Limited on May 3, 2022, marking the conclusion of an illustrious era while passing the reins to Vikram and Arjun Oberoi during his lifetime.

His last rites will take place at the Bhagwanti Oberoi Charitable Trust, Oberoi Farm, Kapashera, New Delhi starting at 4.00 pm today.
