IHCL signs new Ginger Hotel in Gangtok

With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have three hotels across brands in Sikkim including two under development

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has announced the signing of a new Ginger hotel in Gangtok, Sikkim. This hotel is a fully fitted lease in partnership with Sonam and Dorjee Bhutia.

Commenting on the signing, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President - Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said, “This signing is in line with IHCL’s commitment to the North-eastern part of India as we continue to tap into the region’s tremendous potential. The company now has three of its brands – Taj, Vivanta and Ginger present in the beautiful state of Sikkim.  We are delighted to partner with Mr. and Mrs. Bhutia.”

Strategically located in Bojoghari on top of a hill with picturesque views of the mountains, the Ginger hotel is a short drive away from key tourist sights and traditional business district. The design is influenced by the local Sikkimese and Tibetan architecture. The 87-room hotel will also feature Qmin, the all-day-diner, a bar and a fitness centre. The hotel will have conference rooms, making this the ideal location to host business and leisure travellers. The Brownfield project is slated to open in 2023.

Gangtok is the capital of the north eastern state of Sikkim. It is a popular hill station offering panoramic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga. It is also the base for Sikkim’s thriving tourism industry that includes monasteries, adventure sports and casinos.
