Daikin Japanese Institute of Manufacturing Excellence (DJIME) inaugurated at Neemrana

DJIME aims to reach, educate and certify 1,50,000 Indian youth by 2025 to help the HVAC industry overcome skill shortage

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility vision, Daikin Air-conditioning India Pvt Ltd (Daikin India) has inaugurated Daikin Japanese Institute of Manufacturing Excellence (DJIME) campus at Neemrana, Rajasthan. DJIME aims to offer training programmes based on a curriculum that will include on-the-job training (OJT), HVAC technical know-how, soft-skills and Japanese manufacturing processes. All trainees will receive a DJIME certification upon completion of this programme. The students would be trained in the areas of safety, quality, discipline, Kaizen and other Japanese shop floor practices, essential to be successful at the workplace. The aim is to reach, educate and certify 1,50,000 Indian youth by 2025 to help the HVAC industry overcome the skill shortage.

DJIME is an important milestone signifying successful collaboration between the Governments of Japan and India to create a pool of skilled manpower for manufacturing sector in India. This endeavour started in 2016 from a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) signed in Tokyo between Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Government of Japan and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India (MSDE), for a “Manufacturing Skill Transfer Promotion Programme” to train 30,000 youths in India over 10 years.

Located at Neemrana in Rajasthan, DJIME is spread over five acres and can accommodate 250 students in one session while operating at full strength. Leveraging on Daikin’s huge network of production bases, sales offices, service centres and channel partners, employment opportunities to DJIME students would be endless.

During the DJIME inauguration ceremony, KJ Jawa, Chairman & MD, Daikin India, said, “This state-of-the-art campus will impart and upgrade standards of training across Indian HVAC sector. We are committed towards excellence in technology and quality; and this initiative will provide a platform for students to enhance their skills in a world class training environment. Having identified skill development as a challenge in India, Daikin India took this opportunity to make a positive change in the society by promoting women employment and empowerment.”

On Daikin’s CSR philosophy, Jawa added, “A skilled workforce is indispensable to the success of an industry and the nation. Through DJIME, we endeavour to make the youth industry-ready leading to higher socio-economic growth. Daikin India will continue to move forward in this direction of improving the lives of the youth and support them by enhancing their knowledge and skill in Japanese manufacturing procedures and techniques. This is consistent with Daikin’s two-pronged strategy of ‘Skilling for the Industry’ and ‘Benefits for the Society’.”

Daikin India has been identified as a global manufacturing base and export hub, and in this regard DJIME will be a force multiplier. Daikin is committed to support Government's Make in India and Skill India initiatives and this DJIME campus is a positive step in that direction to build a better and stronger India.
