Courtyard by Marriott Navi Mumbai appoints Chef Prashant Suryawanshi as Executive Culinary Leader

Chef Prashant refined his expertise during a four-year stint at Novotel, Shamshabad, Hyderabad, where he worked as a chef de partie in various culinary settings

Courtyard by Marriott Navi Mumbai has appointed Chef Prashant Suryawanshi as its new Executive Chef. Chef Prashant brings culinary expertise and a passion for the art of cooking that promises to elevate the dining experience at the hotel.

Chef Prashant's journey to becoming an Executive Chef is nothing short of remarkable. Born and raised in the vibrant region of Khandesh in Maharashtra, Chef Prashant grew up in a large, close-knit family with fifteen siblings, uncles, aunties, and loving grandparents. His early exposure to the rich culinary traditions of his family ignited his love for food.

"While growing up, I missed my mom's home-cooked meals during my college days in Pune," recalls Chef Prashant. "To satisfy my cravings, I began experimenting with recipes in my hostel kitchen. Not only did I discover a deep-seated passion for cooking, but I also witnessed the joy that good food can bring to people's faces. It was then that I realised food is not just nourishment for the body; it's also nourishment for the soul. As they say in Marathi, 'Anna Hey Purna Bramha.'"

Chef Prashant's determination to pursue his culinary dreams led him to earn a degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology from Pune University's MGVS College. During his college years, he honed his skills with part-time training at the Taj Residency in Nashik. After graduation, he joined the Taj Residency full-time, gaining invaluable experience in Indian and Chinese cuisine.

Continuing his culinary journey, Chef Prashant refined his expertise during a four-year stint at Novotel, Shamshabad, Hyderabad, where he worked as a chef de partie in various culinary settings, including banquets, coffee shops, and specialty Indian restaurants. His dedication and talent soon propelled him to the role of Junior Sous Chef at Courtyard by Marriott, Hinjewadi, Pune, where he continued to excel and was later promoted to Sous Chef.

Chef Prashant's career took another exciting turn when he was entrusted with leading the culinary team during the pre-opening phase of Fairfield by Marriott, Lucknow. He served as Head Chef for two and a half years, successfully driving culinary innovation. From there, Chef Prashant embarked on a culinary adventure, first returning to Fairfield by Marriott and later joining Le Meridien, Goa, as an Executive Chef. His culinary journey has now brought him back full circle to Courtyard by Marriott, Navi Mumbai, where he has taken on the role of Executive Chef.

"We are thrilled to have Chef Prashant Suryawanshi as part of our team," said General Manager Subhabrata Roy. He added, "His passion, creativity, and extensive experience in the culinary world make him the perfect fit to lead our culinary team and continue delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests." Chef Prashant's culinary expertise, combined with his commitment to creating memorable dining moments, is set to elevate Courtyard by Marriott Navi Mumbai's dining offerings to new heights. Guests can look forward to savoring a delightful array of flavors and experiences under his expert guidance.
