Westin Mumbai Garden City Appoints Jitender Awasthi as the Junior Sous Chef

Prior to joining The Westin Mumbai Garden City, Jitender was associated with the Oberoi Hotel and Resort in Mumbai, where he began his culinary journey and mastered the intricacies of the art of baking.

AN EXPERIENCED culinary professional in the field of Bakery and Confectionery, Jitender Awasthi has been appointed as the Junior Sous Chef at The Westin Mumbai Garden City. In his new role, he will primarily assist in the planning and innovation of menus, ensure quality services, train associates, manage budgets, amongst others.

Prior to joining The Westin Mumbai Garden City, Jitender was associated with the Oberoi Hotel and Resort in Mumbai, where he began his culinary journey and mastered the intricacies of the art of baking.

Using his progressive experience in the industry, Jitender has enriched his career and honed his knack for curating quality and flavorful confections in creative and appealing presentations. His passion towards patisserie was driven by his sheer determination to take on a challenge and excel in it. He believes that the ‘ruggedness’ of the job, is what keeps his passion alive and he executes with the vision to innovate and excel.

Adapting outstanding culinary techniques, Jitender has proven expertise in granular areas of his work which prove his keen eye to detail and he progressively evolves to attain proficiency in confectionary. Over the years, he has participated in various baking competitions and has bagged a gold medal in the ‘All India bakery and pastry challenge 2013’ and a bronze medal in one of the categories at the ‘Indian culinary challenge 2015’.

An absolute kid at heart, Jitender’s signature creations are chocolate pralines and decadent chocolate bonbons. Aside from curating scrumptious delicacies from the oven, Jitender is committed to fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He also takes keen interest in staying updated on current affairs. He believes in the philosophy that, “The world is tough, and one must prepare to be tougher.”
