Ukraine International Airlines launches direct flights to India

Flights to and from the Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport touched down on a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with three classes of service - business, premium economy and economy.

UKRAINE INTERNATIONAL Airlines (UIA) launched direct flights from Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine and New Delhi from May 1, 2018.

Flights to and from the Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport touched down on a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with three classes of service - business, premium economy and economy. The airline has started with new long-distance flights three times a week and from June 7 the frequency of flights will grow to four flights a week.

 Speaking at the launch, Sergey Fomenko, Vice President – Commerce, UIA, said, “We are opening 80,000 seats between two capital cities in a year.” The airline has announced an inaugural return fare of INR 27,500 in the economy and INR 1,14,000 for return Business class.

Talking to the media, Igor Polikha, Ambassador, Embassy of Ukraine, highlighted the fact that direct connectivity will boost trade and tourism between India and Ukraine, and beyond to East and Western Europe.

Subhash Goyal, Chairman, STIC Travel Group, the GSA of UIA in India, also spoke about what Ukraine as a country can offer to Indians and how it can offer the huge growth for inbound tourists into India.

“UIA keeps developing a business model of a network carrier,” said Evgeniya Satska, UIA Communications Director. “To attract transit passenger traffic, we need to balance eastern and western route vectors. Currently, we can observe the UIA active geography extension in the West and restrained growth in the East. The launch of scheduled flights to Delhi will help balance our network and improve on Ukraine’s image as a transit country.”
