The Madrid Chamber Promotes the Digitalisation of Commerce & Shopping Tourism

The Madrid Chamber of Commerce launched a number of free activities including presentation workshops, development-based initiatives for shopping centres with a view to promoting the digitalisation of retail trade and shopping tourism in the region.

THE CHAMBER has launched presentation workshops and a range of development-based initiatives in shopping centres which seek to help retailers to keep pace with new selling methods and consumer habits.

These activities are free and launched as part of the 2018 comprehensive plan to improve competitiveness in the retail sector, which is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the State Secretariat for Commerce of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, and is developed in conjunction with the Chamber of Spain, the Directorate General for Commerce of the Region of Madrid, and the chamber itself.

The Madrid Chamber of Commerce launched a number of free activities including presentation workshops, development-based initiatives for shopping centres with a view to promoting the digitalisation of retail trade and shopping tourism in the region.

These initiatives are part of the 2018 Comprehensive Plan to Improve Competitiveness in the Retail Sector, promoted by the State Secretariat for Commerce of the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness and the Chamber of Spain, and is developed in conjunction with the Directorate General for Commerce and Consumption of the Region of Madrid, and Madrid’s Chamber of Commerce. The plan is also co-funded by the ERDF.

The 2018 Comprehensive Plan to Improve Competitiveness in the Retail Sector also includes activities to promote the leading urban shopping hubs which have a strong tourist footfall in the city of Madrid and several towns.

“Madrid a 7 star destination” is the slogan of the campaign to promote urban-based shopping hubs with a strong national and international tourist footfall in the capital, developed by the Region of Madrid and the Chamber of Commerce in the context of the 2018 Comprehensive Plan to Improve Competitiveness in the Retail Sector.

The aim of this campaign is to turn the region into a world-class shopping destination and promote the shopping offer that Madrid has to offer in strategic markets for the Region of Madrid such as China, Japan, Mexico and Colombia. This 2018 plan will also carry out specific activities in Brazil, Argentina and India.

The purpose of the “Magic Days of Shops” initiative is to encourage the general public to go shopping in their local areas. This proposal involves magic shows which aim to capture the attention of families and consumers and to encourage citizens to take to the streets and revel in the shopping experience while taking advantage of the offers of retailers and enjoying the magic shows. These initiatives will be rolled out in the municipalities of Brunete, Colmenarejo, Morata de Tajuña, Navalcarnero, San Lorenzo de El Escorial and Villarejo de Salvanés.
