Sri Lankan Airlines Enhances Connectivity Between New Delhi and Colombo

Sri Lankan Airlines , with its extensive connectivity strength , has been the market leader facilitating a large number of travelers into Sri Lanka as well as to those seeking connections to the airlines popular destination such as Melbourne , London , Singapore , Kuala Lumpur , Bangkok and Seychelles.

SRI LANKAN Airlines will be operating 18 flights a week between New Delhi and Colombo from July 4, 2019.  “ The latest connectivity enhancement comes into effect as a result of the consistent growth in traffic flow from North India in Sri Lanka “ quoted by  Vipula Gunatilleka, chief executive officer, Sri Lankan airline. 

In an exclusive interview with Gunatilleka, BW Hotelier came across some interesting insights about the Sri Lankan Airlines. North India is considered to be the biggest growth markets for Sri Lankan Airlines, owing to the avid interest shown by travellers on the immersive aspects of Sri Lanka, which is an ideal setting for MICE travel, Gunatilleka points out that they had a big play in the mice market in the last few years. However, due to the unfortunate attack, there has been a negative impact on the revenue, about 100  million dollars, the Sri Lankan airlines are working to bridge the gap by the end of the year . 

They are planning to incur the losses by viewing it from many angles, by promoting the traffic, which affects the margins to an extent and working on the cost plan which is a part of their restructuring program, looking at each and every cost item and then planning to renegotiate it .  Gunatilleka points out that the Indians are emerging as a traveler, and especially a lot of travellers are good spenders, Sri Lankan Airlines insures to provide with all sort of facilities.  Very soon they will be provided with good connecting highway network which we facilitate the transportation and enhance the tourist spots .  Moreover, they are also a  part of the overall tourist promotional strategies and are in association with tourist organization which helps them to tap at the hospitality sector.
