South India is Best Location to Have ‘Generous Slice of Pie’ for Hoteliers: Girish Krishnan

In recent times, South India has emerged as an ideal place for established brands to introduce their various offerings. Adding to this Krishnan said, “The South Indian market is seeing tremendous growth in all sectors, whether automotive, IT, finance, MICE, wedding and tourism.”

STARTING HIS journey as a commis in the hospitality industry, Girish Krishnan has worked around the globe with many reputed brands. Holding an experience of 25 years Girish Krishnan has witnessed a lot of changes in the hospitality industry. He has been recently appointed as the Hotel Manager at Four Points by Sheraton Mahabalipuram Resort & Convention Center.

In a conversation with BW Hotelier, Girish shared his views on the growth of this industry, “Many international brands have ventured into the country as a result of which the business model has evolved. There are many positive factors to this change, but the pivotal one is the induction of digitization. All in all, we can say that the hospitality sector itself has seen huge growth and development in different areas, owing to India’s economic growth as well.”

Four Points offers its clients a luxurious stay in the hotel while also taking care of the damage caused by urban growth. Talking about sustainability he said, “We at Marriott have undertaken several initiatives to support this cause and it is a brand standard for us. Some of our initiatives include but are not limited to replacing plastic with biodegradable paper and glassware.”

“It has emerged as one of the best locations for all the hospitality players to have ‘a generous slice of the pie’,” he further added.

The growth that hospitality industry has noticed in the recent years is very encouraging and it motivates the hoteliers to take more initiatives and gives them opportunities to come up with newer innovations in the industry to meet the demands of their clientele.

“This market needs to work on additional aspects such as better infrastructure, one window approval for budding entrepreneurs, and ease of doing business. With this clear viewpoint the respective government will be able to create an atmosphere encouraging more investment opportunities and invites into our country,” he stated.

In today’s world, technology plays a very crucial role in every aspect. Gadgets like Smartphones, laptops are being used for multiple purposes and catering to these demands is even more important. Speaking about this he said, “Speed is the key when catering to evolving practices, especially for our business traveller e.g. creating simpler and quick processes such as in-room check-in, mobile room check-in, mobile keys etc., which makes us stand out among others.”

“Furthermore, we need to continue to strive to meet our clients’ needs with changing times. Each segment of hospitality has different needs and we have the expertise in place to identify and improvise on them to provide our guests with seamless experiences,” he added.
