In recognition of his management genius and distinguished contribution, BW HOTELIER confers the ‘Hall of Fame Award 2020’ on Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi.

A passionate hotelier, Oberoi is the Executive Chairman, The Oberoi Group. He is known for his unflinching commitment to aesthetics and service in the Industry. 

While giving away the award, Amitabh Kant, CEO, Niti Aayog articulates, “Hotelier extraordinaire, industry pioneer and inspiring business leader, Oberoi has made the Oberoi name synonymous with world-class hospitality. Oberoi has pioneered luxury hospitality in India and has set the luxury benchmarks with a chain of hotels and resorts, some of which rank among the best in the world. PRS Oberoi has put India on the luxury tourism map and has made an immense contribution to India’s global image.”

Oberoi is also the pioneer of skill development in India’s hotel industry. The Oberoi Centre of Learning & Development, (OCLD) which was founded in 1966, is still the benchmark for hospitality education and training in the country. A conservationist, Oberoi is a member of the Worldwide Fund (WWF) for Nature. The Oberoi Vanyavilas, Ranthambore has been ranked amongst the best eco-tourism resorts in the world.

Oberoi’s achievements have been feted by the hospitality and travel industry; he has received numerous awards and accolades in India and overseas. In 2008 Oberoi was awarded the Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India; the Padma Vibhushan is the second highest civilian award. In 2004 he received an Award from the Department of Tourism, Government of India, for his contribution to tourism. In 2010, he was voted the Corporate Hotelier of the World by readers of the Hotel Magazine.  In December 2012, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Luxury Travel Market at Cannes.
