THE THIRD edition of Baahrakhari’s annual invitational golf tournament has set a record of playing at 4250 meters altitude on Sunday morning. Despite very bad weather from early morning, a set of players made it through the clouds into the peak and played the game. This altitude is the world record in golf playing.

Due to unusually bad weather and black clouds, THE rest of 40 players could not manage the feat. However, 8 golfers taking part in the tournament managed to play at the alternate location at Syangboche at the altitude of 3880 meters. As the dark cloud surrounded Syangboche as well, other players could not manage to try their hand.

The program was scheduled to be inaugurated by the Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa, but the bad weather did not allow that. Over 60 guests who had gathered in Lukla and Kathmandu also could not manage to reach the top.

All the players will now play the remaining leg of the game at Gokarna Forest Resort in Kathmandu on 26th of October. The winner of the tournament will be awarded a golden golf ball and a shield. The game at Gokarna is expected to be participated by around 100 corporate golfers.

Rabi Bhakta Shrestha, a prominent businessman and former president of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry said that by organizing the event Ncell Baahrakhari has done a huge contribution for the country. "It is difficult even for the government to hold the program of such a magnitude," he said.

"Though we have set the record, we are sorry that we could not complete the match as planned. Moreover, many journalists were also restricted by the weather to reach to the venue. However, we are hopeful that the new record and Nepal's potentials as a naturally beautiful touristic destination will be promoted by the international journalists," said Surya Ghimire, the Deputy General Manager of Baahrakhari Golf.

Baahrakhari, a premier online news portal from Nepal has been organizing a golf event on an annual basis since 2017. This year it was special, as the golfers were going to tee-off from the world's highest altitude for the game.
