MoT streams 'Birding in India' webinar

Celebrating the spirit of birding, the ministry recently organised 'Birding in India' that explored the scope and opportunities of birding in India.

Birds have been an integral part of Indian culture. Finding its space in Mythological accounts, Stone Age Paintings, Cave Paintings, Mughal Paintings, birds have played the roles of vehicles for various Gods and Goddesses for long. Not just that, when it comes to travelling, birding is something that helps explorers experience nature and understand the behaviour of local communities.

Celebrating the spirit of birding, the Ministry of Tourism recently organised a webinar named 'Birding in India' under its Dekho Apna Desh webinar series. The webinar explored the scope and opportunities of Birding in India.

Saurabh Sawant, a naturalist, wildlife photographer and filmmaker presented the virtual webinar.

Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General concluded the webinar by discussing about the connection between India’s biodiversity and local communities. During his discussion he also highlighted the importance of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat and how it is aiding in connecting with different local communities, understanding the culture, cuisine etc. to enrich the experience of a traveller.   

The Dekho Apna Desh Webinar Series is presented in collaboration with National e-Governance Department, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The Webinars can be accessed on the ‘Digital India Learning’ YouTube channel and also on all social media websites of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India.
