MoT inaugurates renovated helipad in old Goa

It is developed, under the Swadesh Darshan Coastal Circuit theme, which aims for the integrated development of theme-based tourist circuits in the country

The Union Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Development of the Northeastern region, G Kishan Reddy, and Goa's Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, jointly inaugurated a renovated helipad in old Goa today. Dr Sawant informed that the helipad has been renovated at an expense of Rs 5 crore to increase tourism in the state, and will be put to good use for the government and private sector. 

The helipad has been developed as part of the Swadesh Darshan Coastal Circuit theme. Swadesh Darshan Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme, launched by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, for integrated development of theme-based tourist circuits. This scheme is envisioned to synergise with other Government of India schemes like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Skill India and Make in India, with the idea of positioning the tourism sector as a major engine for job creation, the driving force for economic growth, building synergy with various sectors to enable tourism to realise its potential.

"Goa is not only renowned as a national, but also an important international tourist destination. The tourism sector is an important employment generator and the Union Government is extending all the support for enhancing the tourism sector in Goa thereby creating more jobs," Reddy said. The Union Minster also affirmed that in this 60th year of Goa's liberation, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture will extend substantiate funding to Goa and make the state the top tourist destination in the international map.
