Indian Hospitality Prospects will be 'Rosy' in New Decade

Kush Kapoor, CEO, Roseate Hotels & Resorts predicts a dynamic shift in the Hospitality sector and underscores the need to look beyond competition at innovative offerings.

OUR HOTEL'S name ‘Roseate’ comes from a bird with pink-hued plummage. In similar fashion, each Roseate hotel is avant-garde, imaginative, contemporary in design, and with as a story to tell. With our focus on aesthetics, detailing of hotels and service, we have the expertise to offer our customers stylized accommodation with high business efficiencies at city hotels, and exquisite leisure options at resort locations.

Roseate Hotels and Resorts is a collection of uber luxury hotels consisting of six niche hotels across the UK and India. In the UK, the hotel operates under various brands - Roseate House in London near Hyde Park, The Roseate in Reading and The Roseate Villa in the historical city of Bath.

In India, The Roseate New Delhi is its flagship property, a luxurious resort within the national capital. Our second property in New Delhi is Roseate House New Delhi, a chic luxury hotel in the hospitality district of Aerocity.

Ever since its launch in India in 2016, Roseate Hotels & Resorts has stirred the domestic hospitality space with its unconventional and novel launches. In just over three years, the chain has succeeded in introducing the largest Indian restaurant in the country – Kheer – designed by Noriyoshi Muramatsu, the renowned designer of Studio Glitt, the man behind the Zuma and ROKA interiors globally. Kheer can accommodate over 250 diners, while an in-house movie theatre and auditorium can house 71 guests for movies, plays, book readings, theatricals and conferences. Although the key focus for a new brand is primarily revenues, we made sure that creating unparalleled experiences and personalised service was not overlooked.

In a novel step, prior to the formal launch of Roseate House New Delhi, the property introduced the hotel to a select clientele through a book – Bathtub – whose short stories were woven around the hotel. The move was much appreciated and well received by industry experts and guests.

Chi Ni, the oriental restaurant at The Roseate New Delhi, perched atop a manicured hill under a tent canopy, is again a first-of-its-kind restaurant in the country, coming from the drawing board of acclaimed restaurant designer Bob Puccini. The resort itself has more than a thousand original trees that have remained uncut, and with water bodies constituting more than 70 per cent of the resort, The Roseate New Delhi is no less than an urban oasis in the heart of the capital city. The Roseate also has its own temple as well as an organic farm to offer its guests home-grown fruits and vegetables - a perfect farm-to-table experience.

Outside the National Capital Region, The Roseate Ganges in Rishikesh offers private access to the pristine Ganges river.

Industry Outlook for the 2020s

The dynamics of the hospitality industry in 2020 will certainly see a shift. While the number of hotels are bound to grow, this trend will create more opportunities for hoteliers. However, the quality of manpower available to the industry will continue to weaken, due to the stiff competition from other industries. Therefore, training and retaining skilled manpower will be one of the biggest challenges.

Domestic travel will remain stable while MICE will continue to grow. The Average Room Rates (ARRs) in the city should definitely increase while Chinese travellers will drive the Inbound market.

The Roseate Plan For The Next Five Years

I have positive sentiments for the first half of the new decade. To begin with, the coming year promises to be exciting as we plan to introduce new offers for our customers. Being a brand that doesn’t look out for competition, we are able to constantly push ourselves to innovate and offer personalised experiences. A dash of freshness in service is well appreciated by guests who are usually well travelled and savant themselves. On the other hand, transparency and a balanced work environment is well received by employees who know they are our strength and thus passionately push themselves to take the brand to newer heights. Reinforcing these strengths will be our agenda in 2020.

Breakthrough concepts such as the introduction of 24X7 breakfast facility for our guests, complimentary laundry services for single lady travellers, and opening of an ultra-chic luxury co-working space - the Upstage Club - within the hotel are just some of the novel services offered by us to our valued customers.

The past year saw Roseate House become the first Indian hotel to be certified with FSSC.

The environment being a crucial component of our Social Responsibility, Roseate Hotels & Resorts have adopted many practices to contribute to a greener environment. All three Indian properties have become completely non-smoking zones, followed by a 100% recycling of waste water used in WC. Plastic straws have been replaced by biodegradable ones. We are aiming to go completely plastic-free with our own branded bottled drinking water option for guests.

We want to continue innovating and reinventing ourselves in the coming decade
