In the Business of Creating Memories

JW Marriott Bengaluru's new Director of F&B, Manuj Ralhan speaks about his role in the hotel and his very ambitious plans for his future in hospitality.

WE ARE in the business of creating memories for our guests and every day is different,” says Manuj Ralhan. With a career spanning over 15 years in hospitality, he is looked up to as a highly motivating mentor, and thrives on guiding and developing teams to ensure that the F&B services at the hotel are credited as being the best in the city.

BW Hotelier caught up with Ralhan who has been appointed as the new Director of Food & beverages at JW Marriott Bengaluru. “One of the major reasons to choose JWB was the opportunity I saw lie ahead of me to create experiences for our guests. We are one of the most chic & contemporary hotels JW has in India,” he told us.

Ralhan has worked across various locations in India and overseas, prior to joining this hotel he was working with The InterContinental Mumbai as the Executive Assistant Manager of Food and Beverage. “I strongly believe F&B promotions are a backbone of any successful hotel operation. Competition is immense & we have to stretch the box & deliver new each day. Our strategy is to position each outlet differently that competes with hotels & standalone restaurants & bars,” he said.

“We do simple things & make it special. It’s important for us to make celebratory occasions special & we go all out. Our Italian restaurant Manager plays the guitar & sings a romantic number at your table if you are celebrating your anniversary or are on honeymoon,” he added.

He specializes in pre-opening luxury city hotels & iconic resorts. In future Ralhan plans to be a Hotel Manager in less than 16 months & GM in 3 years at JW Marriott Bengaluru. “We want to offer something for each of our target markets. A classic example is we run a vegas club like brunch experience for the younger guests who like to party at one of our venues & a Carnival Brunch at another venue focusing on families & children,” he said
