TRINCOBLU BY Cinnamon is one of the 11 Cinnamon properties dotted across Sri Lanka. This property is unique in terms of the excursions offered which include whale watching, dolphin watching, snorkelling, scuba diving, lagoon visit among other land excursions. “The pristine beaches of Trincomalee and clear waters is what attracts a large number of tourists to this part of the country. Cinnamon Nature Trails organises whale watching - Blue Whale and Sperm Whale - for guests during the March – May season when whales come about 6kms close to the shore. Whale watching season- 6km from the shore and Pigeon Island – 20 mins boat ride from the hotel (fantastic diving locations), pristine and private beaches are a few attractions that can be explored in this region,” says Mudadeniya.

The property caters mainly to leisure travellers and marine wildlife enthusiasts. While smaller corporate groups can be accommodated, packages are seasonal and are available for all on the cinnamonhotels.com website.

So are there any special requirements met for their stay? “A designated lifestylist is appointed to coordinate and support any guest requirements. Additionally designated personnel is appointed as a coordinator for smaller MICE groups to help and support various requirements,” he adds.

In terms of the green standards, the property follows certain rules like the sea excursions that use four stroke engines (very silent) which don’t disturb the marine life. “We work with the local communities for boat operations in Trincomalee and follow various ISO standards at different properties too,” he adds.

Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts is a hotel chain that has a dedicated events team to plan, facilitate and execute spectacular events. The events organised by Trinco Blu by Cinnamon include outdoor activities. The hotel is host to a sailing regatta annually. It hosts the International Optimist Dingy Association sailing event in June 2016 which saw over 100 sailors from across the world. It is an ideal location for sailing and water based events.

So what is so extraordinary about this venue? Mudadeniya says, “Trinco Blu by Cinnamon is a beach property on one of the pristine beaches of eastern Sri Lanka. It captures the sense of its place in proximity to the highlights of – Trincomalee and is minimalistic in design. The property encourages you to step out of your room to explore the quiet and almost white shore and what lies beyond. Our specialized Cinnamon Nature Trails team is adept at managing sea excursions to explore marine life. They also assist in the conservation of marine and wildlife.”

In terms of the future expansion plans for Cinnamon Nature Trails and Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, Mudadeniya says, “Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts will be adding another resort to their portfolio in Sri Lanka in the next few years, while an existing property which is a four star will be renovated and upgraded to a five star. Cinnamon Nature Trails on the other hand, constantly expands its experiences and product offerings in line with the areas it operates in. This is a constantly evolving process. The biggest project being worked on currently in Cinnamon Life - Colombo’s life capital, envisioned as an icon for Sri Lanka is one of the most ambitious projects in the region in terms of scope, design and the exclusive lifestyle it promises to deliver.”
