Health In A Jar: Not just a product, but an experience

Confused about what to gift your loved one? Bored of the traditional choices of flowers, sweets, cakes and chocolates? Or just need a healthy snack, while binge watching netflix? Look no further cause health in a jar is here to provide you ‘a unique gourmet experience like none other’

Born as a humble attempt to address the need for healthier gifting and snacking alternatives, Health in a Jar was started in 2018 by Pallavi and Jhanvi Ajmera, who wanted to share their passion for food and flair with the rest of the world.

In its early days, Health in a Jar offered two products – Honey Medley and Pine Nut Cranberry Mix. With time, experimenting with unique blends of selected flavours and spices they broadened their product range, leading them to creating their niche in luxury gifting segment.

It was however, the on-going pandemic that made Jhanvi Ajmera tap into the unmet need for healthy snacking options. She explains, “I came across a lot of people who were looking for healthy, homemade and preservative-free dips and spreads”. Thus, she spent time to come up with an innovative menu and started her ‘Dip Dip Hooray’ range in September 2020. The humble beginnings soon transformed into a sustainable home start-up that will surely induce you to re-assess your gifting and snacking habits.

THE EDGE

With the rise in home chefs and brands in the ‘healthy snacking’ segment, one might wonder – what really sets Health in a Jar apart?

For Ajmera, Health in a Jar is not just a business, but an expression of her creativity and culinary inquisitiveness. From the very beginning, she has been absolutely hands on with every aspect of the business - from taking orders to sourcing ingredients, preparing the products to the final packaging. Each jar is made to order through a meticulously handcrafted process to ensure that only the best quality artisan products are delivered to her clients. Hence, what you get as a finished product is indeed an exclusive experience, and not just something straight out of a production line.

Health in a Jar has a ‘three pronged feedback loop: healthy competition, customer feedback and aspiring collaborations’. Ajmera emphasises, “Customers have been the pillar stone of our success. Their feedback inspires us to consistently innovate, improvise & personalise our offerings.”

MAINTAINING FOOD HYGIENE & SAFETY

In the current pandemic-ridden environment, it is imperative for one to address the health and hygiene standards in a home kitchen. With Ajmera’s personal involvement in the complete production chain, she ensures that the highest food standards are maintained at all times.

In fact, the brand recently acquired the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) license, and follows a stringent 5-step process to curate healthy, hygienic and quality food. This involves a) proper sanitisation of the dedicated kitchen space as well as the required equipment, b) sourcing ingredients from trusted vendors who are equally vigilant about health and hygiene standards, c) proper sanitisation of all ingredients, d) thorough sanitisation of the glass jars, and e) strict hand washing and general hygiene standards for all workers, established and monitored by Ajmera personally.

BEHIND THE SCENES

A young mother of two, Ajmera asserts, “Health in a Jar is not just work but an avenue for ‘creative self-expression’, her Ikigai”. She explains that ‘innovation is the key to sustainability’ and Health in a Jar aims to consistently provide consumers with a unique experience through quality products and packaging.
