Gupshup digitises hundreds of restaurant outlets across India with conversational commerce

Automates direct ordering, touchless, payment, home delivery, marketing, offers and more, with thousands of outlets in the pipeline.

Gupshup has taken hundreds of restaurant outlets online this year, across India with conversational commerce. With thousands more in the pipeline, this makes Food & Beverages, the company’s newest vertical. Leveraging the Gupshup IP (GIP) messaging platform, Gupshup brings the full power of conversational commerce to digitise the customer experience to order, pay and receive home delivery directly.

This digital experience can be activated via a simple link sent in a message or for touchless table orders, via a QR-code. Gupshup also provides restaurants with messaging-based marketing solutions to promote offers, specials and deals to their regular customers and has made restaurant management simpler with a mobile-based management tool. For restaurants, this means getting more direct business from customers,  implementing touchless dining for safety and owning their customer relationships through their own marketing efforts.

Launched recently, GIP enables rich, interactive, conversational experiences and transactions on any device, without requiring an app download. It is the ideal commerce enablement tool for businesses moving from offline to online (o2o) i.e., for offering advanced digital customer experiences for offline transactions.

“Restaurants and other businesses are adapting to the pandemic by replacing physical offline interactions with digital online experiences,” explains Beerud Sheth, co-founder and CEO, Gupshup. “Gupshup’s platform enables businesses to transform virtually every customer interaction into a highly engaging conversational experience. It digitizes every aspect of the restaurant business including ordering, payments, delivery, marketing, customer service and more. We’re committed to helping restaurants and other offline businesses leverage the power of conversational commerce to survive and thrive, now and in the future,” he adds.

“We are delighted to partner with Gupshup to bring our food and beverage offerings to our customers, wherever they are and be #morethanready. At IHG, good isn’t good enough – we’re committed to high levels of cleanliness and our high standards of cleanliness and safety will apply to food delivery at our guests’ homes and offices. Gupshup’s conversational engagement capabilities is a great option that will continue enhance our efforts and understanding of our customers’ needs and aspirations,” says Vaibhav Jain, Area General Manager, Holiday Inn Express Hotels, India.

“The essence of Hospitality Business is Memories & Experiences. It is a key differentiator from competition and the most powerful tool to capture and retain our guest base. Gupshup has provided a great tool to reach out to our guests without involving third party aggregators thereby negating service lapses. This is in absolute alignment with Crowne Plaza Mayur Vihar's efforts to deliver seamlessly at the customer’s doorstep when they can't step out. Offering a range of Contactless Dining to Home Delivery modules gives us options to enhance and provide a consistent guest experience which cannot be replicated by the third party platforms. In addition to it, the easy customizable model works well for a varied guest base powered with focused marketing to drive it aggressively,” asserts Nivedita Avasthi, General Manager, Crowne Plaza, Mayur Vihar.

“Hyatt Place Gurgaon Udyog Vihar, is pleased to integrate with Gupshup to digitise their FNB offerings for their customers. The value of customer data and ability to reach out directly to our customers is paramount in the current scenario. We are working closely to come up with more digitized solutions together to enable more automation and enhance customer dining experience," comments Sonu Raj, Assistant General Manager, Hyatt Place.

Leading chains like Hyatt Gurgaon, Holiday Inn, Radisson, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, Jamie's Pizzeria, London Bubble Co and Tea Junction are online with Gupshup along with mid-sized chains and local stand-alone restaurants. Gupshup has also taken this solution international and counts AQLUT, Qatar as a key customer. Gupshup has partnered with leaders across delivery, digital payments and POS systems to offer a seamless experience to both restaurant owners and customers. On the digital payment front, they have partnered with Razorpay while for POS payments, they have partnered with PetPooja, POSist and GoFrugal. For home deliveries, the company has partnered with Dunzo, Wefast and Pidge. More partners will be added in the weeks to come.
