Curating Memories and Culinary Goodies at Provenance

Avani Raheja and Samir Gadhok of Burgundy Hospitality have brought Royce’ Chocolates, Papabubble and Onitsuka Tiger to India. Recently, they have launched a luxury gift store and café – Provenance that houses unique culinary goodies.

SAMIR GADHOK is a collector at heart. His unrelenting search for exotic and quaint objects coupled with his business experience in the Indian and international food industry culminated in the opening of Burgundy Hospitality in 2012.

“With a variety of heritage and boutique brands available both locally and internationally, my wife Avani and I, thought of handpicking and curating some in small batches for Provenance,” said Samir Gadhok, Co-founder of Burgundy Hospitality, who has also brought – Papabubble (Barcelona-based caramel confectionery) and Onitsuka Tiger (the Japanese footwear and apparel brand) to India.

A coffee house, custom gifts and services boutique, Provenance, curates gourmet products from India and across the world that are rich in tradition and stay true to the origin. Recently opened on the ground floor of Palladium, Mumbai, it stocks everything from Belgian chocolate and French croissants imported from the Brittany region, to Chocolate Dragees sourced from the coastal town of Pireaus in Greece, artistic cakes from Tier Nom, craft coffee roasted by Koinonia, and gourmet gifts from Sustenance.

The in-store gift stylists are trained to custom-make gifts for any occasion. To add finishing touches to any gift, the store also retails an exclusive collection of greeting cards, official cartoons from The New Yorker magazine, and a select range of wrapping paper sourced from Italy.

While the 17-seater café is home to ‘Mirage’ – a custom-made, expressionistic coffee machine hand-built by Kees Van Der Westen imported exclusively from the Netherlands; the boutique is designed by Zameer Basrai of The Busride Design Studio peppered with storied merchandise and Mediterranean-inspired ‘cabinets of curiosities’, brass lighting elements.

With a dream to have a ‘Provenance’ store in every metro neighbourhood and international market, Gadhok wants to showcase the best of local and international craft, gourmet and boutique products. “We continue to leverage our understanding of building boutique brands to increase the depth and breadth of our product portfolio and partner with more brands to showcase their unique products,” said Gadhok.

Burgundy Hospitality currently owns and operates 14 retail stores, spanning across six cities in India. Provenance is the 15th store in the portfolio and the company’s first home-grown luxury gifting brand.
