Chef Anthony Huang Takes over as Executive Chef of JW Marriott Bengaluru

Chef Huang bagged the award for the Continent Chef of the Year, Asia Pacific, Marriott International in the year 2015 for his contribution to the culinary arts at Marriott.

After a stint at the Kochi
Marriott, where he helped launch the property, Chef Anthony En Yuan Huang
returns to his home town, Bangalore to join the JW Marriott Bengaluru as
Executive Chef.

BW Hotelier got to speak to Chef
Huang about his achievements at Kochi Marriott and what lies ahead in his new challenging
assignment.

“I think one of the crowning
achievement at Kochi Marriott was inventing an imaginary character called Jimmy
Rocks and then using the means of this person’s travels across India to bring
to Kochi food from across the country, a different place every week,” Chef
Huang told us.

That and of course the fact that
he opened a hotel in a city which is notorious for its stickler for quality
when it comes to cuisine. In fact, Chef Huang bagged the award for the
Continent Chef of the Year, Asia Pacific, Marriott International in the year
2015 for his contributions.

When we asked him about his new
assignment, Chef Huang was still a bit reticent. “I think its too early to say
what is planned for the year ahead, I have just joined now,” he told us.

What he did say was taking up a
lot of his waking hour was to come to grips with the immensity of the
assignment, plenty of outlets, banqueting and a team of 100 chefs in the
kitchen to start with, so he’s told his family to imagine he’s still in Kochi,
at least until the big VIP visit over the weekend is over. We’re speaking about
The World on a Plate food carnival featuring Matt Preston, George Colambaris
and Gary Mehigan which takes place at the hotel on June 4-5, 2016 (details: http://www.worldonaplate.in).

Before joining Marriott, Chef Huang
has worked in the Oberoi group and Hyatt.
