Budget 2019 Gives Massive Push to Infrastructural Development

The budget speech duly emphasized the importance of infrastructure and connectivity in the country which will also help in the growth of the tourism market.

PRESENTING THE first budget of the Modi 2.0, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said schemes such as UDAN, Bharatmala, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY), Dedicated Freight Corridor(DFC) are bridging rural-urban divide and improving transport infrastructure. The government plans to work on the infrastructural development programs to improve the connectivity in the country by allotting Rs 80,250 cr for construction of 1.25 lakh kilometres of road under PMGSY.

Adding to the development projects in this sector, the budget also includes comprehensive restructuring of the National Highway Programme which will also ensure the creation of National Highways Grid of desired capacity. The government will also launch a station modernization programme this year.

Talking about the railway infrastructural development she said, “657 km of metro rail has become operational while the infrastructure of the railway will need an investment of Rs 50 cr till 2030. Public-Private Partnership (PPP) will be used to unleash faster development and delivery of passenger freight services.”

The budget speech duly emphasized the importance of infrastructure and connectivity in the country which will also help in the growth of the tourism market. Connectivity being the life-blood of the economy, the budget’s focus on infrastructural development and blueprints for various upcoming plans will help in the growth of the economy.
