Air Canada Inaugurates Toronto-Mumbai Direct Flight

The route features Air Canada’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, with 29 International Business Class lie-flat seat suites, 21 Premium Economy and 247 Economy Class seats.

DESTINATION CANADA announced the inauguration of Air Canada’s maiden Toronto-Mumbai non-stop service at an event organised at Trident Hotels Nariman Point, Mumbai, on July 3, 2017. The four times weekly flight, linking the two cities, is aimed at increasing Canada’s presence among Indian travellers and making it more convenient for them to fly-down to the world’s largest country and experience the wonders offered by it.

Putting more light on the launch, Duncan Bureau, Vice President-Global Sales, Air Canada, said, “Our new flights show our commitment to the Indian market and these routes will operate year-round with Air Canada’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The aircraft features 29 International Business Class lie-flat seat suites, 21 Premium Economy and 247 Economy Class seats, with upgraded in-flight entertainment at every seat throughout the aircraft. “

The Chief Guest at the event, High Commissioner of Canada, His Excellency Nadir Patel, said, “This is a reflection of a very strong and growing India-Canada relationship. In the last three years, we have doubled the number of visitors from India to Canada. This showcases the fact that Canada is really a welcoming country, one that embraces diversity, inclusiveness and multiculturalism. This is one of the reasons why we have that linkage of visitors and settlers as well. So when you look at the movement of people and the fact that it continues to grow, there is no reason for it to slow down anytime soon. This is one the of reasons why this new flight will be successful and we have no doubt about that.”

The event was also graced by Margaret Skinner, Director Sales, EMEAI, who said, “Going by the positive response we have had from the direct flights from Delhi to both Toronto and Vancouver, we are expecting a similar pattern in Mumbai. Mumbai is a financial hub, and with the recent interest of Canadian companies in investing in India, as also Indian companies setting up partnerships and companies in Canada, we see this as a great opportunity.”

The first non-stop flight left Canada on Canada Day and touched down India on July 2.
