ixigo Launches ‘Offline Mode’ On its Trains App for Android Users

Now, travellers can stay updated with their live train running status, search for trains between stations, set station alarms, search for train routes and receive booking reminders, even offline.

IXIGO HAS introduced ‘offline mode’ on its trains app for android users. Now, travellers can stay updated with their live train running status, search for trains between stations, set station alarms, search for train routes and receive booking reminders, even offline.

These features have been introduced keeping in mind internet connectivity problems people face, especially during the train journey. Whether the issue is a low signal, or no internet connection at all, ixigo trains will come to the rescue! Tracking where one has reached during the journey can be the biggest hassle in the absence of the internet. With the offline availability of the Live Running Status feature, travellers will never have to fret over tracking their train location.

With 20 million monthly active users, ixigo helps travellers across India, plan and manage nearly 4 million trips every month. ixigo is dedicated towards using cutting-edge technology enhancements to provide users, a hassle free and seamless travel planning experience.

Announcing the launch, Rajnish Kumar, CTO & co-founder, ixigo said, “Network issues during train travel restrict accessibility of accurate information, which is a common pain point for travellers. Our intent was to provide a simplistic solution to this issue. It was a big challenge to keep the app light by compressing an additional 100MB offline train data, within the 10MB size of the app. The offline mode will provide millions of Indian train travellers the desired train information, with or without an internet connection.”
