‘Constant Supervision on Existent Operational Framework is Essential’

COMPASSION and perseverance are the key mantras that keep Ravi Rai going. Rai as a General Manager operates two AccorHotels properties at Vizag – Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach and The Bheemili Resort managed by AccorHotels.
With over 15 years of experience, he has been instrumental in strategizing business operations through comprehensive business initiatives. “I strongly believe in goal – orientation when it comes to deliverables and simultaneously strive to maintain my work-life balance. I am a people’s man and put faith in giving liberty to my teams thereby enabling them to be independent, innovative and well-focussed towards their career progression,” he said.
Rai’s association with AccorHotels spans 5 years, “I felt challenged and enlightened- it has truly been an unforgettable journey. The values and the work environment set by AccorHotels distinguish it from other brands. It has been about imbibing considerable learning experiences, progressing from the Director - Food & Beverage to the Hotel Manager and taking over the reins as the General Manager,” Rai shared.
Speaking about managing two properties, he said that, “Both the properties are unique in their offerings and cater to different demographics. While Novotel Visakhapatnam Varun Beach has been there for 6 years now, The Bheemili Resort managed by AccorHotels has just completed a year. “
“We strive to strike a balance and do justice to both the properties. It is our constant endeavor to keep innovating and creatively organize various promotions to offer our guests diversity and ensure they experience both the AccorHotels’ wonders, here at Vizag,” he added.
Rai feels that constant supervision on the existent operational framework and the implementation of right requirements at the right time is the need of the hour. “Building relationships with the guests based on not only deliverance of expectations but going a mile forth is inevitable. Follow-ups, producing sound plans, SWOT-focused approach and aggressive responses towards queries of any nature are inescapable,” he said.
He added that one needs to be result-oriented, committed and harbor the zeal to achieve the targets. Alertness, sharp market intelligence, knowledge of competitors’ movements, flexibility in mind-sets needs to be incorporated to allow for competitive vulnerability.
“We intend to create a benchmark in the market and raise the ARR bar. The city has a lot of potentials, we are seeing an increase in demand. The future holds opportunities, growth plans for my team, focus and re- focus, since every detail counts while devising nouvelle strategies and infusing new ideas,” he said.
